For the Cake:
2 ½ cups (310g) all-purpose flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup (240ml) whole milk
For the Buttercream Frosting:
1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
2-3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Food coloring (optional, for decoration)
Instructions:
1. Preheat & Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a round cake pan and a rectangular pan (for shaping the dress).
2. Make the Cake Batter:
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla.
Alternately add dry ingredients and milk, mixing just until combined.
3. Bake the Cake:
Pour batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cakes cool completely before decorating.
4. Prepare the Frosting:
Beat butter until creamy.
Gradually add powdered sugar.
Add milk and vanilla, beating until smooth.
5. Assemble the Baby Dress Cake:
Use the round cake as the bodice and cut the rectangular cake to form the dress shape.
Arrange the pieces on a cake board to resemble a baby dress.
Frost the cake smoothly and add details like lace, bows, or ruffles using a piping bag.
6. Decorate & Serve:
Use food coloring for accents.

½ cup (120ml) fresh strawberry puree
1-2 drops pink food coloring (optional)
For the Strawberry Buttercream Frosting:
1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
¼ cup (60ml) strawberry puree
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
For Decoration:
Fondant bows and ruffles
Edible pearls or sprinkles
Fresh strawberries for garnish
