👩‍🍳 Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or similar-sized oven-safe dish.
2. Prepare the Cake Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Add in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture forms a smooth, thick batter.
If you’re using chopped nuts, fold them in now.

3. Transfer to Baking Dish
Spread the batter evenly in the greased dish.
4. Add the Fudge Topping
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and additional cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the cake batter.
5. Pour Over Hot Waterأ

Carefully pour the hot water over the top—do not stir. This might feel strange, but trust the process. The water sinks and forms a rich fudge sauce underneath the cake as it bakes.
6. Bake the Cake
Place the dish in the oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top looks set and the edges begin to pull away from the pan. You’ll notice bubbling as the fudge sauce forms beneath.

7. Serve Warm
Let the cake cool slightly. Then scoop out portions, making sure to get some of that warm, gooey chocolate sauce from the bottom.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra-indulgent treat.

🍨 Serving Suggestion:
This cake is best served warm, straight from the oven. It’s like a brownie meets molten lava cake—only easier and just as satisfying.
